Presentation
The research group "Bayesian Inference and Decision" of the University of Extremadura was created in 1999 with the aim of contributing to the development and application of new techniques in the area of Bayesian statistics. Subsequently, the scope of action was extended to mathematical and statistical techniques, in general, that allow the resolution of real problems in different fields of knowledge.
The research lines are:
- Bayesian methods in Decision and Inference. - Methods for diagnosis-aid and follow-up of diseases detectable by voice - Stochastic models for reliability. - Machine learning

The group consists of researchers with training in Mathematics, Statistics and Information Technology, who collaborate with experts from different fields of knowledge (telecommunication, acoustics, information technologies, medicine and veterinary, among others) in multidisciplinary teams.
The group members cooperate or have cooperated with research groups from different universities and research centers like the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos, Universidad de Granada, Universidad de Zaragoza, Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, Universidad de Málaga, Universidad de Cádiz, Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas del CSIC, The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center de Houston (EEUU), CNR-IMATI de Milan (Italia), Instituto Politécnico de Lisboa (Portugal), Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (México) and School of Public Health of Leuven (Bélgica).
